squeak in interior
I have a squeaking noise coming from somewhere in the rear interior of my car. its not very loud, it is very intermittent. sometimes over bumps, and sometimes on straight flat roads. sounds like its coming from trunk area.
does anybody have the same noise? anybody know what it might be?
(i also posted this in general help, also posting here, maybe some different readers, different opinions)
i also had this problem with my previous f body (95 firebird) never found out what it was.
thanks in advance.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
One of the rear springs rubbing in the upper spring pocket would be my 1st place to look.
Also these cars are gonna have body, suspension and interior noises. Especially if it has been modded. They're annoying but sometimes you just gotta deal with them. They're not a Mercedes.

understood, i am not looking for a luxury car here... i love sitting in this thing and feeling the whole car rumble, and having the exhaust resonate inside the car at those certain rpm's.... just love it.
and thanks.

Another thing to check would be to see if the spare tire and jack are properly secured.
Also, check the rear suspension bushings, shocks and attachment points.

I have a noise like that going on right now. Found it too be metal rubbing on my passenger side exhaust hanger, the one that holds the tailpipe in place.

I have a squeek like this too. We've had the springs out trying to figure out where it's coming from and best we can figure it's from the spring to rear end mounting point. I thought it was coming from the upper cushion but it wasn't. The bottom of the driver spring had exposed metal and the pass. side didn't and the squeek was coming from the driver side. We put some brake hose on the spring and it stopped.

In my 95 camaro the jack and related parts had worked loose creating a chirp when hitting small bumps. I would follow 67Camaro's advice.

yea, i checked it out. its not the suspension.
its not a spring/rubber squeak, its more a chirping squeal like 67 and kf4knf described. and yea, thats what it was, some loose parts in the spare tire compartment.
thanks everyone for your input. great site for tech help.

I threw my small room mate in the hatch and took off down a bumper road...im serious....he found mine, it was the jack and spare tire. removed them
I also had a squeak that i thought was in my dash, but it was the e-brake, when it does i just wiggle it and it goes away.

I had a horrible squeak in my car around the console one night....ended up being a foam cup in the swing-out cup holder rubbing on the dash I felt so stupid, I spent like 20 minutes trying to figure out what it was.
