It's popular today, tow trucks are cheap to buy. People buy or steal them, then tow other cars away and part them out. Lots of people in my area know, what power and cheap mods the LS1 have. Plus they are kinda cheap in gray market...

I heard my car and sat right up! Grabbed a robe and ran out the door and saw my Chevelle turning out of the alley and down the street.
Thing is, they tried to get it before. Stupid idiots tried hot wiring it and tore all the wires out from under the dash, took the steering wheel off and still couldn't get it. One of my neighbors was turning into his garage and yelled to them and they ran off.
But, they came back and guess the figured out how to hot wire it.
Yeah, when my Chevelle started up... you heard it if you were 10 houses away We were in a condo at the time and there was a condo in between my garage and our condo. So, the garage wasn't attached to ours.
It SUCKED!

I guess we need to keep our cars in a locked garage with a security system!

Yes. On a flatbed A high speed chase that didn't end well.
Broke my heart. I had that car for almost 14 years. Rebuilt and restored it.
That was the third and last attempt at steeling that car. The first time it got all the way to Orangevalle, (sp?) CA. Way up North. It was like a 7 hour drive just to get it back. But, it was in good condition.
The guy who took it to it's death, was a 19 year old punk just out of Juvenile Hall. I've got a judgment against him but, I know I'll never see a dime of it.
Yeah. Sucks.

Definitely make a police report, that way they will have documentation of the attempt. And probably patrol the area more. You may save someone else by doing so. Not to mention for insurance purposes... why yes officer, they scratched up my front fascia!!!

i would absolutely get a camera and try planning a sting... the police prolly do not care until the car is actually reported stolen..
