02 Camaro SS S.O.M.- 07 Trailblazer SS AWD
so much for a rare color..i have to vent
Im pretty sure that SOM was a rear color, and also cme. If so then ohio got a lot of the rare som camaros and 3 som's with cme. I seen two just like mine at the camaro show at summitracinga few yrs ago, one with the same tan interior as me and one with the black/charcoal interior both had cme, one was bone stock with headers and flowmaster and the other was bone stock aside from a sts turbo. mine has wheels, lowered, ect, ect, so what ever. This past weekend we went to the biggest show of the year around here at the raceway and there were two more som camaros at the track and one at the cruise, a rs - auto same color interior, stock wheels, a older 00 or 01 ss without cme, zr1's and a black interior and when i was leaving i saw another
z28 with the same wheels as me, didnt see what color interior but wtf, i was cool till i seen another som camaro with the same wheels as me, its different on here or anywere else online but in the same city at a car show?!? I know they are a totally different cars but for people not like us its just, "the same car"......bull, ive been freakin out ever since then thinking about painting it (twotone) or just selling it, its costing me so much to have it and its supposed to be so rare but there are at least 7 som's in ohio that i know about. I almost wanna sell it and buy a used one with a but load of miles on it thats paid off and just build a 408 or 427 ls1 and do the rearend and paint job with ccw's on that instead of spending the money to put a rearend and ccws on my already expensive "rare" 02 som. I dont know what to do? just finish paying mine off then do the rear end, heads, cam ,ccw's, or just sell it and buy a older higher mile one and have the money to do all that stuff now and still have the same or even better car in the end. Sorry for ranting im just a little stressed out if youve read this long then thanks for listening
02 som SS #4818 m6 all SLP options, cme, lt's, ory, e-cutout, lowered(slammed), Pro 5.0, 4:10s, boltons, 19" CCW 505A'S, 365rwhp 379ftlbs

Silver- 1998 Camaro Z28 A4
relax, you got a really beautiful car, enjoy it! 7 other ones in your state, so what? it's a mass production car, there'll always be similar ones.
if you can't bear that, buy a bugatti and paint it lime green, just to make sure...

Or you could get one of those cars they call a "Thing" and paint it Shocker Pink.
PS For what it's worth, I LOVE the color of your car.
I wanted one in that color so bad I could taste it.... NADA about here, altho, there's about 2 gazillion in red and black.. Could be worse man, could be worse.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
SOM, while a nice color, isn't even the "rarest" of colors for 2002. They made 41 less cars in Montery Maroon Metallic.
For the stats: http://www.camarosource.ca/php/camar...trim&year=2002
FYI: I cribbed this from this site. http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77241
Also: Enjoy the car and don't sweat the little BS.

thanks guys. I know, im crazy. I get in the "selling mood" every now and then. just took it out for a couple of hours tonite and just cant bring myself to get rid of it. I figure itll be paid off soon and then i can mod the hell out of it so its faster then the new ones. And get my wheels i want.

I know the feeling. I've always like the hugger orange color. When I decided I was going to buy in fbody this past winter I did some looking around. SOM by far caught my attention, but I couldnt find one reasonably priced. Then I came across the hugger z here on ls1.com and it was over.
A couple weeks ago I took a day off work to see the hot rod power tour when it was in my neighborhood. I have never seen so many orange cars in one show. Huggers, SOM, competition orange, mustang poppy red, etc etc. There was about 3-4 ls1 fbodies in som and hugger. Many 1st gen huggers. On the other hand, it was a big car show. Its still a cool color.

Black- 2002 Camaro SS M6
hey man they are still rare cars and damn nice cars. i am happy whenever i see another camaro around here. Just the other day the sun was out, and it was a real hot day, i dropped the top and went to grab some computer parts. on the way home i meet up with a 4th gen z28, i throw him a thumbs up. and we were blowing down the street right beside each other, flying by traffic, then we met a 4th gen LT1 z28, and then a 3rd gen IROC. and we were all just blasting it down the street in a pack, and then a c5 vette jumped it. it was a pretty fun drive, we were turning lots of heads.
needless to say, not many f-bodies around here, so its eal rare for me to see another one.

Your car is beautiful, leave it be. Have you thought about how many have been totalled out or stolen or washed away on floods or hurricanes or tornados. Trust me, your car will be worth keeping the way it is other than mods. You soon will have a 1 of maybe 15 SOM left in existence. I personally love my BLACK and always wanted black but do you know how many of these you see, just T/A's alone is too many!! Then the ones using the same wheels, and sharing the black interior? Now you have me raving.

Good thing you didn't buy a black one, you would have drove it off a cliff by now.

thanks man, i think im over my little b!t<h fit, i do still have all the stock parts down to the stock filter, plugs and wires, the only thing i dont have are the wheels and the stock battery. I have all the paper work to go with it also with the window sticker, im hoping it will be worth something someday, thats why im trying to keep the miles off of it, only 27,000 something so far
although it is a popular color. thats the other color i would have gotten if i didnt find my som.

Red would have pushed him over the edge no doubt. 10,329 Red Camaro's made in 02. That's almost 1 out of every 4 made.

Black is the best, don't worry. It seems like everybody and their mom had a red camaro at one point in their life. I honestly would pass a perfect f-body by if it was red, just not into that color for some reason. SOM is kinda neat though, much different than the normal. Still, it isn't black....

Are you kidding? The whole sellers speal about a car being a rare color...I couldnt give a f*ck less how rare a color is. Doesnt change anything about the car.
I would also have to kick my own ass to not drive one of these cars because you want to sell it X years from now. Its a losing investment no matter how you look at it. Money and more importantly Fun are flying out the window, or in your case, leaking into the garage.94 m6 Formula - Sold

2001 3.8 Black - sold- 2000 SS Black M6
I feel kind of rare in mine. I lived in longview the first 6 months I had mine, town of about 70k people, never saw another one. Now ive been in Tyler, town of about 100k people, and Ive seen 4 others like mine, ones bone stock with really bad paint, one needs to be put out of its misery. One looks nice, even has gold stripes. And I just saw the 4th other day...Insanely hot girl driving, parked beside her at a sandwich shop...we had a moment.

02 Camaro SS S.O.M.- 07 Trailblazer SS AWD
Gee, got more feedback than i thought i would.
I know its kinda silly to have a car like this and not drive it everyday but if i had a desk job and got to wear nice clothes everyday to work then hell yeah id drive it, but between comming home everyday looking grey, dusty, sweaty, and muddy greasy shoes/boots and no room to haul lumber or anything else it really cant be drivin everyday, not that i haul anything for work in my tbss but the black interior in that isnt black anymore the floormats are filthy and everthing else is slowly getting ruined, my tan leather in the camaro would be brown and all cut up by know, thats why i got cloth in the tbss, my denali had leather and it was done for after two years of driving to workand it was cleaned every weekend. Plus its nice to come home and just get in it and drive without having to clean it before i go to a cruise or show or just out for a drive and hey if the time comes and the offer is right then it will be worth that much more just because i didnt drive it everyday and mess it all up...dont get me wrong not saying you daily guys cars arent clean, im just sayin mine would be messed up if it was drivin every day cuz of my work. I get sh!t from everyone all the time because its not drivin everyday, its not like it only goes out once every 4 months i drive it weekly, just not every day to work or if its gonna storm real bad, i give props to you guys that drive em everyday and props to guys like myself and y2k whos cars spend life in a garage and could be flipped over and eaten off the bottom of them. to each is own
