Skip shift no problem with 3rd

Ok I have read a bunch about this skip shift garbage and now im worried. I have not been able to shift into 2nd at all i have tried about 6 times. I always shift from 1st to 3rd with out any problems. Even on down shifting I cannot shift into second. But 3rd is once again not a problem. Now when I try to shift into 2nd I let go of the stick and let go of the clutch and it just sits there and doesnt cetch. However I have a habit of keeping my hand on the stick after I shift and Obviously after I have let the clutch out it grinds when Im holding it back. But like I said I have never had a problem shifting into 3rd. I want to get an eliminator but Im worried that there is a problem with the tranny. Does anybody have any insight?? Or is this just whats supposed to happen? I have 52000 miles on the car and its a 99 ss.
    Thanks everybody!!

It could be your 2nd gear synchro, shifting fork, or even the gear itself. It doesn't sound like an issue with skipshift that's keeping you from shifting into second. It sounds more like a internal problem in the tranny. I'd say it's in need of service.

^^^what he said. Skip shift won't let you into third either when it's working.
