Pewter- 2000 Z28 Camaro coupe
Size of the front bolts of the LCA
I plan to install SFC on my 00 Z28.
The first problem is removing the front bolts of the LCA if they aren't in good condition. Maybe I need to cut them, maybe not, but I'd like to replace them by new ones.
The second problem is that I live in France...
I'd like to order the new bolts, but I don't know the size. And before removing the old bolts, I need to have the new ones. I can't remove the bolts from my Z cause if I encounter a problem, that means I can't use my Z for several days...
Can you give me the size to order the right bolts, please? Or the reference (ARP)?

Honestly a good Grade 8 (or metric equivalent) bolt from a hardware store with a nylock or locking style nut would absolutely work. You want a fairly tight fit between the shank and the sleeve on the suspension bushing so as to avoid any clunking. Torque spec should be 75 lb.ft. for the LCA's. This being said, I do not see why the originals cannot be cleaned up and reused. All of the suspension bolts on our older collector cars have been salvageable -- and we're talking 30 to 50 year old bolts for most of them.

I installed UMI SFCs on my car and they supplied new LCA bolts with the kit. I just checked on the UMI web site and they also sell hardware kits for suspension components. For the LCAs they have a kit, part number 3001, that includes 12mm 10.9 grade bolts and nylon locking nuts. They don't specify the length of the bolts but it should be easy enough for you to measure the current bolts and then include a little more to account for the addition of the SFCs. 1978 - 2002 GM Rear Control Arm Bolt Upgrade Kit [3001] - $11.99 : UMI Performance, Inc.
Good luck!ATI Procharger, SFCs, Y-pipe, LM2, BBK Shorty Headers, Corvette N73 Magnesium Wheels, 4th Circle Designs Stripe and Overlay kit

Philippe...
I had the same concerns with my new LCA's and when it came to removing the existing ones they undid very easily.
I prepped them in the days leading up to the job with a dismantling spray and i really don't think i needed to
as they undid easily! A quick wire brush and they re-installed fine.. with a smear of copper grease as well.
I have a fair few threads coming through so, as Steve mentions above, the extra thickness of the SFC steel needs some
spare and you should be good as i also have bolt in SFC's with original bolts.
Hope it goes well...
