Single Pipe

I've noticed on quite a few '98 LS1 SS's, that there was only 1 exhaust pipe instead of the normal dual exhaust?? Was there a reason for that or was it an option that could be had from the factory??

There is a '98 Brickyard 400 SS Pace Car on eBay right now with it. I was just curious.

The Single On the Left (SOTL) was the std exhaust on SS and WS6 cars for 1998. It is the best flowing factory GM exhaust put on a 4th Gen.

Yes because the Single In/Out setup is more efficient (no turbulence caused by the 180* turn inside the muffler)

I had it until this summer. A very different option to say the least. It was kinda throaty for a factory exhaust too. I carefully took it off for a Magnaflow, still have the OOTL in the attic.

I remember a guy had that done to his 97 ss camaro, and it tricked alot of people that would roll up beside him. I watched him wax many of vettes because of that, I dont know what all was done to it but I remember a older guy with long hair driving it, that thing was a flippin beast.
