    Shift Boot

How do you remove the leather shift boot that goes around the bottom of the shifter on an M6? I am making a short stick and cant figure out how to remove this leather piece.

You just kinda have to squeeze the bottom part of it to get it to come off. It's a plastic frame that is somewhat flexible. But don't squeeze too hard or you'll break it. Oh... and unscrew the shift knob..

around the base of the boot there is a plastic border. This border unsnaps from the the center shift console. self explanatory from there.

I just did this. Bought the "aftermarket" metal ring that hold the boot down on ebay, and bought an aftermarket leather boot off ebay. Had to make the little slits for the holder, but it went on and looks better than the factory unit. I'll post a pic today just to show everyone, I was very surprised at how well this turned out. The factory one was showing its age and the plastic piece that holds it down really didn't do a lot for me.

Well like I said, here are 2 pictures of my new setup. Install was a breeze, even though I thought it would be difficult, and the new aftermarket parts fit very nicely. Just take your time and go for it. I'll also share my links from ebay if I can find them here...

I have to give props to both these sellers, very nice products and the price isn't too bad for the amount of quality it is. Let me know if you have any questions, I just installed this yesterday so it is all fresh in my mind.
