Don't, unless the Formula is a WS6.

Sunset Orange Metalic- 2001 Camaro SS
Main thing about the 98 is the PCM
Not nearly the best of the fbodys
If it were me i would keep the SS, more mileage but its your car and you know how it runs, plus its 2 years newer
Unless your crazy about the formula i would keep the SS

If you can prove the formula is a ws6 it may be worth it $ wise. Does it say ws6 on the door if so thats one rare formy I believe they only made a few hundred ws6 formulas. If not I'd keep the ss. The thread up top should display all the little differences for 98 smaller gas tank, pcm, valve covers, and the fact that the block can only take a hone where the later models can take a small overbore.... But nothing really wrong with the 98's they run great.

I vote keep the SS. When the time comes to replace the LS1, you can go with another LSx engine as there are many options available.

120k here. tranny swap or rebuild in the near future not due to any problems whatsoever. just getting it prepped for down the road build. only problems ive had are hit and run, tires, and thermostat. from the 80k(when i bought it) to the current 120k.

120K on my LS1/Tranny are great, rear end took a major shit... But most of the guts is going in an 01 Firebird for mother, still has plenty of life left. I'd say these engines with proper maintenance should easily hit 200,000.
