I took mine off after painting because of bubbles. I repainted and used a glass adhesive to replace. The piece is affixed with screws i believe it was 5, and glued on all around. I removed the screws first, then used what i called the "cut the cheese" method. I took a 2ft. length of bicycle brake cable and tied it to to handles. I made my handles out of wood blocks. The cable will slice through the glue by sliding back and forth, just like what they use to slice cheese. You have to be really careful coming around your quarter panels. Takes a while but its the only way of removing the piece without ruining it.

I painted mine on the car cuase I hated the black top, the car is way better looking now.
