red- 01 ss convertible camaro
Ready to get started!
I have an 01 SS convt, and am starting it as my project car. The first thing I wanna do is the rear end. I have found a 9 inch rear from a friend cheap and wonder what is needed to install it into my car. I will have the 9 completly rebuilt with the axles and gear set that I want. I guess my question is: where can I get the 9 rebuilt and fabricated to fit into my car? The 9 is 53 inches long or wide and out of an 72 Gran Torino. Any help would be appreciated. Thxs

Honestly... it'll take quite a bit to make it work in an F-body. If you have to do it this way you'll want to start with some measurements to see if the width will work. You'll then have to lop everything off the 10 bolt and weld it onto the 9". Even then, I'm not sure how you will attach the torque arm. All the standard aftermarket F-body housings have this feature cast in. FWIW, you can probably order an empty housing, axles and whatever else you need from Moser for not a whole lot of coin. Their complete rears are quite a bit more.
