    problems after installing sound system!!

    i just installed my sound system today and everything was going great until i turned the car on. there is something wrong with the battery or something like that. when the car is on the battery voltage goes up to about 15-16 volts and when i press the gas it goes back down to 13 then it goes back up.
    has anybody had the same problem? What can i do to fix it? any help will really by apreciated thanks

    wow.... thats a new one.

    only thing i would say is to make sure all your wiring is right and you have a good ground.

    there should be nothing that would bring up the voltage on the motor just from a stereo.

    unless your running a compastor (how ever you spell it, ive been drinkin)

    this has recently started happening to me also. The voltage will be at normal and ill either hit the gas or let the clutch out. Seems when it goes low rpm the volts take a dive and come back up to normal. It got really close to red once. I figured out it was my sound system by driving around with it off one day. Doesn't do it when the shit is off. Could there be a way to get the sound system it's own power separate from the vehicle's battery to make this stop?? I have a feeling this is what caused my last battery to go bad.

    My car aint doing it no more i let it run for a while then turned it off. turned it back on and it was fine. guess my battery was dying

    It could be your Alternator.. If the regulator went bad then it won't be able to regulate voltage. Which would cause a spike in your voltage. I would make sure my battery is fully charge, then take it to autozone or a kragen to have them run a starting and charging test.
