The LT4 is basically like a LT1 but it has a larger intake, larger cam, better heads, higher rev limit. I am pretty sure they had different piston. They were rated at 330 horsepower. They are one bad ass motor. I may have misquoted some of this. I am sure someone will step in and correct me.

This link will describe it better than I will

well you were right on almost everything, same pistons and the LT4 was NOT the king of the LT motors it was the LT5 VERY FEW OF THESE MADE. 500 hp motors came in the real ZL1s but yes the lt4 was the king at it time, i went for the LT4 swap and it was great

I don't want to argue with you but how can you compare the LT4 pushrod motor to a LT5 dual overhead cam motor. You can't. They are two totally different motors, basically all they share is the name LT.

What about the grill? Who makes it and is it carbon fibre?

The grille is a from RKsport. I got the one w/ no logo and added my own SS emblem:

I do like the LS1, but I would do anything, including selling my 98 to have a BLACK 97 "SS" again!

    I know what a LT1 is, what's a LT4?

An LT4 and LS1 are different motors.....I have had both and they are both really good motors. The LS1 was adopted because of advancements in the GM engine building department, at the time the LS1 was revolutionary. 9t8z28 basically told you what you need to know. Check out this archive too.. http://web.archive.org/web/200306211...4.com/home.htm I have heard of some stock LT4 engines on the dyno producing 310-325 RWHP which isn't bad considering the 330 HP rating. I have never dynoed mine because frankly, I don't care how fast or powerful it is, I have it because of the uniqueness. My 2002 SS was a bad momma though......
