Passenger floor pan

Haha kinda weird but I sat in my passenger seat the other day and I experienced the big and annoying hump on the floor. I hate it and want to get rid of it so here it comes- is there any purpose for it and can I just beat it out with a hammer and dolly?

let me rephase....eh hem, it is in my professional opinion that the floor plan in the passenger floorboard should not be altered due to the necessary clearance for your exhaust systems catalytic converter.
