    oil change light

    i was just wondering in my 99 ss if my oil change light goes off of the actual oil quality or a mileage based system. any input would be appreciated

    oil quality...system dectects when the oil is 2 burnt out n so light goes on

    I have a 99 Z28, as for as I know the Oil Change light is done off average RPM, speed and mathmatical stuff. its doesnt monitor or reset when you change the oil, mine usually turns on every 3-6 thousand miles. its easy to reset.

    it goes off by the load you put on it, so if you drive it real easy all the time it'll probably never come on, i've seen 'em go well over 10,000 miles before. i'd just change it every 3000
