not worth the money IMO, this car should be made to run circles around the gt500 (a carwith those same times), not hangright with it,
The gt500 only ran 12.7s when it came out. When the 4th gens came out average times were 13.7s, when the new SS came out people were goin 13.5s, now a couple have dipped into 12s. c5 z06 was magazine rated at 12.6 and people have gone 11.8 bone stock. The car will run 11s on stock tires with a good driver and practice and with a couple suspension mods and some sticky ass tires im sure 10s will be in the sights.

where are you getting you info? are you talking about the z06 or the z28? i was talking about the z28, OP says they run low 12s, a little faster than a gt500,

if you mean they could go faster with wider tires than yeah, both cars would, thats the main complaint with the gt500, that the factory rubber is too skinny,

No, i mean they wil lboth go faster after real world drivers have them for a couple months and brake them in and get practice. A gt500 the 540hp version is a 11 second car in the right hands. Just like the new camaro will be. Obviously any car wil lbe faster with a sticky tire. But magzine times are never the fastest a car can go. You can always get more out of them. c6 z06 magazine rated at a 11.5, people have gone 10.8 and 10.9 on stock tires with a stock c6 z06. Magazines tell you little about a cars true performance in most cases. The 550hp z28 will run 11s at 120mph+ in the right hands. Just gotta give the cars and drivers time to get them dialed in.

Good Post! I agree with this 100%.
But in order for the GT500 to hit 11's it'd need some seriously grippy tires, as most of it's problem is the lack of an IRS.

Agree. Ie: my old tuner car the stock 1/4 times were a full second+ slower than most people get with a half descent driver. Also car and driver TV on my car from back in the day miss posted the 1/4 time, and the 0-60 time was off by nearly 2 seconds because their "professional" driver was slow as fawk between gears..Hell most folks could take a drink of Pepsi between their guys shifts.. You put me in it you wearin' it..

Live axle is pretty easy to hook up with. Its on of the reasons it has a live axle and not the IRS. The fastest I heard a 500hp gt500 go stock is a 12.2 @ 117mph but the new 540hp version might get closer to the 12.0 mark.

ls7 is Badass no doubt. But a ls3 with a roots style charger just means add a small pulley, full exhaust, and a tune and that thing will put down 550-600whp with bolt ons.

Says who? 03/04 cobra, perfectly driveable/streetable. Corvette zr1 perfectly driveable/stretable. Many forced induction cars are used as DDs. From factory they come with low boost and conservative tuning.

I don't agree with that statement one bit. There's plenty of FIed cars out there that are daily drivable.
