    New Sunset Orange 02 SS

    Hey Guys,

Just picked up a 24k mile 02 SS with a 6 speed. Can barely find a nick on it. Few questions about it though. It seems the driveline has a clunk in it sometimes coming from somewhere. Is this common? Also whats up with the door paint? wavy from the side. When compared to another car its the same. Also the new vettes are like this. I know vettes have had trouble with paint for a while. From every other angle it looks great though. And I quickly learned I can't launch it like my little turbo eclipse. Doesnt like the clutch feathered. Any tips on launching?

Thanks and hope to get pics up soon,

    Erik

Also it has the SLP dual duals and the SLP air box with K&N. I ordered the SLP SS grille since mine has the ugly front plate riveted on.

Hear hear! Sometimes you will get a little clunk from the rear differential (I was told due to a slack in the driveline). I've had this on rare occasions since new. It shows itself sometimes if you get on it a little from a turn or coming off of an incline (like a off ramp). I've only had this happen when the car was a bit cold. It is very intermittent. If that's the case and if its the only noise then I wouldn't worry. Ask the dealer or person about it all the same, just in case of a problem.

Good luck, and keep it detailed!!!

Like he said, the clunk should be intermittent at best. My '02 SS is driven grampa style, very mildly but occasionally the driveline will clunk when I get on it from a stop.

Thanks guys. Ill try to get pics up asap. The clunk is weird. I always leave the traction control off but sometimes it will do it through a couple gears and then not do it for a bit. Any one else feel horrible beatin on their car? Ha I barely want to give it gas. Also Im looking into those invisible bras. Any comments on them? Im just worried about if I ever wanted to take it off and it would screw up the paint.

    Thanks,

    Erik

I'd get some other opinions on the clear bra. Unless you plan to use this as a hwy daily commuter, I'd skip the clear bra personally. Its claimed to be effective, but there is a chance of some etching in the paint if you ever decide to take it off. For occasional trips you could do well with a regular colgan bra (What I use). You shouldn't keep that bra on for a prolonged period or else you could risk getting water spots. Bras work, but they have to be watched.

Here it is with the SS grille. Not as easy to put on as they make it to be. also ordered the LM2. It has the upgraded slp exhaust with muffler but it is just to quiet

    2001 WS6

I had a clunking noise from my rear end in my 01 WS6. Usually when starting off after a complete stop. I still have a GM warranty on it, so I took it in. They said the pinon seal on the diff was leaking (I'm sure it wasn't). So they changed it. I took the car home, and the next day there was a puddle under the diff. I took it back and they said the pinon was warped, so they replaced it all. No there is no more clunking.

Also I have a friend with a 2000 Camaro, he had a clunking noise too, but he replaced his tranny mounts and sloved the problem

    Good luck. Love the SOM.

I had the clunk on my 95 TA. One was because I broke the tranny mount. The other seemed to be in the rear diff. Sold the TA and never looked into it. I hear it slightly in my 01 SS
