    new maf

so recieved my new maf today and it looks nothing like the one on my car, it is all plastic unlike the one on the car, and it has a different style plug, but it came with an addapter to adapt the plug to the ls1 style harnass. it is a factory ac delco maf. has anyone else replaced their maf recently, and got the same one or did they just send me something different?

Check this thread -- you probably have the 85mm MAF: http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113122 I had no problem with mine... until just recently. Not sure what is going on.

Sounds like you got the LS6 (Z06) style maf,,,,which is all that is now available through GM if I'm not mistaken.

It's supposed to work on our cars with that adaptor harness,,,but I'm boggled at how well it would work without a tune at least.

And how well does it fit in the stock size mouth of a lid???

yup, that is the exact same one i got, i noticed it had the integrated iat in it also, great info in that thread everything i needed to know. thanks. so you say that it is actually an 85 mm maf, so that is a step up on flow over the original or is the original bigger. by the way i noticed your from pa, will you be at the gm nationals this year. i am going, cant wait.

I sent Frost the info on the MAF when I did my mail order tune a few months ago. Not sure what change, if any, that made but as stated, it would certainly have different flow characteristics than the stocker.

Will absolutely be at the GM Nats. Had a great time last year. There is a thread up in Eastern Members: http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136189

I figured as much. If Frost tuned the car for that MAF I'm sure he's messed with them before and knew what to throw in there.
I for one wouldn't just stick that MAF on and go.

I never asked him about what effect it had on the tune. May have to shoot him a question as I am curious.

I tried last year to meet up with a few members. Had my cell number and avatar posted on the dash... nada. I met just one other member and that is because I recognized his car. Have to do better this year.
