New Koni DA shocks and SLP springs!

I installed a set of Koni double adjustable shocks and 97 SS SLP springs on the front of the Camaro today, and WOW, what a difference! I have had the rear SLP springs/ Bilstein shocks on for a while now due to massive wheel hop from the stock springs/deCarbons.

I took it down the road and instantly felt in-control again. I used less effort in and out of the turn steering and far better feel. Potholes are no longer a concern! And a lot of peeps told me the ride would be harsh, and they were wrong. My factory Bilsteins were harsh but gave great handling. I thought they were the best thing but everyone hated how the ride beat you up. This is not so with the Koni’s and they are way better! I left the factory adjustments and I think I am gonna keep em there.

Well, first, here is the spring that was on the passenger side front. WTF happened to it? I don't know, but it sure wasn't allowing much movement! It was impossible to see while on the car, but I definitly knew that the shock was blown. It sat an inch higher on the passenger side due to this huge malfunction!!

Anyway, here are the pics of the install. I painted the rest of the inner fender area but never took another pic.

And here is the stance! It sits perfectly even front to back. When I had this setup on the 97 SS, it sat lower in the front but I like this setup much better. . I think that this is due to the LT1 being heavier.

And yeah, she is a little dirt and the CME tips will be on as soon as the weather gets a little better….

    Hows it look?

Just the fronts were under $600. I already have an original set of
    SLP/Bilsteins shocks for the rear.

looks amazing! I wish my house wasn't on a hill with a crazy-steep driveway ramp. I'd lower my car to look like that.

Looks nice! Thats the next thing I need to do. The pro kit with the stock bilsteins are a very harsh ride!

WS6 Store has two different sets of Bilsteins - Which do you all recommend? They have the Bilstein HD Setup, they also have the Bilstein SLP Shock Package.

Which are the harsh ones, and what is the reason they are harsh. How harsh too? Thanks - I was planning on doing Eibach's with a bilstein shock this summer.

The front SLP Bilsteins and Bilstein HD's are unavailable. The rear shocks are the only ones that you can still get.

I would talk to Sam Strano.

Why are the bilsteins unavailable now? I can't just pop over to summit and buy their bilstein slp setup?

They screwed up and lost the dye to make the shocks and they have to spend alot of BLING to build another one. The rears are still available though.

    Sorry for so many questions!

Are they going to make them soon? Or are they done forever?

    No problem.

They have been talking about it since around 2003. They can't make up their mind. It's pretty pathetic since there is a demand for an affordable shock. They might start making em in 5 years but don't hold your breath. I've been trying to hold my breath for almost 3 years.

You can't go wrong with Koni's. The price is steep even for the single adjustables but they are gonna do exactly what you want them to do.

im not saying that they are available now... im just saying i got them less than a year ago...so this must be recent

if they are discontinued for 3 years then why were they in summits book as a package all 4 shocks all of last year... that doesnt seem like much hard work to find them

i had eibach sportlines and the stock shocks... got sick of them and went to the pro kit and bilstien hds... the next week they were in after i ordered them

im not trying to argue its just that different magazines and websites were advertising them this past summer when i bought them... (which was straight from bilstien) who only deals with vendors so i had to go to a speed shop... just dont see how they could have been discontinued for 3 years is all
