    Need some FeedBack, Plz

im sorry guys, maybe this isnt the right place to do this but i need some ?s answered.

i bought my 02 Z camaro on 11/06 with 96k and brought it back from austin (i got lost but eventually found my way back), last year, hadnt had any problems with the exception of the rear mainseal bustin out within 1 month and was replaced. im a pretty heavy guy (about 250 to 300 lbs). i have taken it to the track and 1/4mi times stock w/ 80 to 90% wasted tires was a 14.4 consistency. ive heard of times close to 13.5 on 1/4mi to about 13.8 stock.

Q1) Is this true, times close to 13.5 on 1/4mi to about 13.8 stock?

now, about a year later, i have done the free ram air upgrade, hollowed out cats, knn filter (came like that), and the tb bypass. with same busted tires and no spare tire this time, i managed to pull a 14.04 best run. what is up with this. dont get me wrong im totally satisfied with my car, its just that i thought it would do better or sum.

Q2) Can anybody tell me what i did wrong or is it just the car? Or me for being a FATASS?!

Q3) I dont think this is a big deal but does my Z having a 35th badge in the console mean its something huge or is it just like all the other 25th and 30th ann cars?

    please give me some feedback,thx

Q1) Yes, and sometimes even better with a good driver or factory freak car.

Q2) Might be time for a tune up and bad traction(wasted tires) is hurting your times as well. What was your 60' time?

Q3) All 2002 Camaros got the 35th dash plaque.

Try cleaning your MAF and throttle body, that should help.

will do! maf is already descreened. this is my daily driver and would help much if i clean it. thats another thing i noticed when i put my new wheels, bout 8 to 10 mpg, descreened and went back up to 14 mpg, with stockers and descreen went up to 17 to 19 mpg, but that gas pedal, exhaust rumble, and speed dont help one bit.
    Q) whats the best stuff out there to clean it with?

CRC MAF cleaner. Probably want to change your fuel filter as well.

You can use it to clean the throttle body also, it just evaporates faster than the CRC Throttle Body Cleaner. When I cleaned mine it made a big difference. ............mine was dirty enough that it was like -15 lbs air flow than normal

    Sadly now demodded :(

Also summertime heat will kill times. My car is almost .2 seconds slower in the summertime. The 100+ temps and thin air (3500+ DA) here in Phoenix are a time killer.

What track are you running at, and what is the elevation?
Maybe the air is thin. Cars are slower at higher altitudes.
What RPMs are you shifting at?
What are you running for air press. in your tires? I run the fronts at 34 psi, for less rolling resistance, and the rears at 26 psi for better traction when launching.
Are you burning Premium or Regular fuel? Regular fuel will slow our cars down some.

the track is edinburg race track here in the rio grande valley, temps here at night (when all the fun happens) is between 70 to 85F, elevation (?) dont know how high or low, and as for tire pressure im rolling stock, bout 32-34psi front and back. im also using premium 93 octane gas. i also recently changed the fuel filter, but anybody think my 17s will worsen my times?!

And also thank you everybody for your feedback, I truly do appreciate your time and concern! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

The size of your rims doesn't matter, as long as you're not spinning the tires. The circumference of the tires, if bigger, would change your gear ratio slightly. But prob. not enough to slow you down.

Actually, depending on the rims and tires used, the larger diameter the rim, the more rotational resistance there is, especially if they are heavier than stock as well. I noticed a pretty big difference when I went from stock 17's to 18's on my old ws6.

You're weight will affect the performance, but not much. I believe 100lbs is only about .1 seconds in your ET. Also, how much wheel spin are you getting off the line?

A4 cars are always going to be slightly slower stock vs. stock than an M6 car. There is more drivetrain parasitic horsepower loss with the automatic transmission, and it is slightly heavier. Though, I have seen a stock 01 SS camaro, M6 go consistant 14.2's.... (driver mod) It all depends on how the car is handled off the line. Tires make a huge difference and if they are bald and wasted, not only are your times going to suffer, it is just unsafe to drive on. Get up on all your maintenance and you should see slight improvement.

just askin, has anyone ever put 3.43s, 3.55s, and 3.73s on their vehicle and has anybody tested them before, what would the difference be, and is it possible to have the best of both worlds? Top speed highway racing (of which im totally against) and heads up strip racin.

I have had 3.23, 3.42, 3.73, and 4.10. I currently have 3.42's. If you don't mind going a bit slow on the highway and getting some drag radials for grip, NOTHING compares to the 4.10's. I personally like the 3.23's because I do a lot of highway driving and don't make it to the strip very often. The 3.42's are also doable, I average 22.5mpg going 75. The big thing is that for drag racing, the huge benefits in time are seen in first gear. If you spin the tires and don't get traction, you're not going to see the real benefits of the gears no matter what size you have, making them a waste of money for how much they cost. I think if you want highway racing, 3.73's or 3.42's are probably the way to go.

    2001 3.8 Black - sold
    2000 SS Black M6

I've got 3.42's factory in my car, but ive got a 3.8 so my opinion really doesnt count. I think theyre a good choice. 2.73 has good top end but not so fast off the line, 4.11's are the opposite.

My computer acts screwy at about 110, thats only at 3700 RPM's in 4th, it tries to shift again, yeah, wierd, whatever. and it pulls pretty damn good at low speeds for a 3.8
