Need Racing Advice Fast!

I'm gonna race a guy in a 2002 GT Mustang for $20 bucks, and my friends are gonna record it, so I wanna beat him by as much as possible. I have an automatic, and I was wondering if I should make my car downshift or not. how should I run it?

ah man, we raced twice. first time I did a really bad burnout and he beat me by an inch. the second time I got traction and raped him. we're doing best two out of 3, so next friday we'll do our last race for 20 bucks.

Better hope he isn't sneaky and throws a bottle on it (but then again it is only 20 bucks, money well spent if he screws something up and blows the motor). Why did you stop after the second run???

just in case cops were called. both our cars have exhaust, so it was pretty damn loud.

GTs r slow!!!!!....you should have got a 6spd but oh well still a nice car good luck on the run.....i ran a 03 GT with,fullexhaust,throttle body,intake,fuel,rail n a few other things when i was all stock....20 roll...no spin on both cars n got him easy by 4 cars....80% throttle(road was messed up)...but yeh ive been told to watch out for Mach 1s tho.....other then that all stangs r slow....except for the 03-04 cobras haha...well i mean they hadda put the supercharger on after the Fbody died but yeh "Bold Moves"

Yeah dont worry about GT's unless they got spray or a power adder...I raced my buddies GT with headers, exhaust, throttle body, cold air, and gears and walked him BAD lol But on the other hand, I raced my roomates Mach 1 exhaust only and only got him by like a car and thats it, I pull but not fast the longer the race the further I walk him....And I only have exhaust and LID with the 323 gears man, You GOT it

Mach 1s...LMFAO. They are the biggest joke FORD came out with. They do start out faster than a GT, but they don't have near the potential of the GTs. The dealership where I got my car from tried to trade me out of my car and into a brand new Mach 1 back in 04, I test drove it while they were fixing my car, when we got back to the dealership I got out of the car, chunked the keys at him and said "You can keep this overpriced piece of shit". TRUE STORY!!! Best choice I think I have made this decade...LOL.

I agree with you totally, It was so funny after I beat hom I was like dang man I just walked on Fords natorious Mach 1 whats next? lol He didnt like that to much

the guy I raced had his car gutted, all the seats were out, no spare tire, nothing. he had switched it premium with only 2 gallons of gas in it. he had a cold air intake, power chip, octane adder I think?, and a cat-back exhuast. all I have done is a flowmaster cat-back, lid, TB bypass, bellows, SFC's, and STB. I had everything in my car, including text books and around 10 gallons of gas. I have a couple videos from the two races I'll post.

that second run was much more like it is supposed to be. Next time you should have a couple friends ride with you just to rub it in. Full tank of gas, 2 passengers, and full race weight. LOL.

good race man. last time i raced a GT it was at the track he was runnin headers cold air gears and a shifter and he had slicks. I have shifter intake exhaust some suspension and a clutch with street tires. I was spinning all the way through first gear and he only got me by a nose. Wish i would have had slicks i would have ate him up! My trap speed was 113 his was only like 104

thanks, we're doing a re-race next friday. one of the guys who watched has a friend who owns a tricked out STI who wants to race me. according to them it put out 370 ft. lbs. I'm pretty sure I'd lose, but I said I'll race him for fun too.
