Need help on mods
Well, it looks like I have $1500 or $2k to spend on some mods. I drive a bone stock Z28 A4. I'm looking at the SLP induction kit and LT headers w/ possibly an ORY or true dual setup. Was also thinking about a stall but from what I've read my gas mileage will suffer and it already stinks in city driving so I'm kinda leaning away from that. Any other reasonably priced mods that can keep me below my limit. Oh and I was thinking of getting a dyno tune as well and from what I understand that runs about $500 so that needs to be factored into the equation.

Oh and probably a shift kit as well. With that and the induction/exhaust I'm thinking it will be a bit below $1k.

do free mods, LT headers+ORY, cutout, lid+k&N, shift kit+trans cooler, SFC, Pahhard, LCA's, torque arm, 160 thermostat, UD pulley, and Tune. I wouldnt go with true duals unless you really whant them I just dont think the HP you gain from them is worth the money.

Mods
Lid, UD pulley, Shift Kit, 160 Thermo, Y-pipe, Panhard, TB bypass, Bellow, K&N, Strut Brace, Flowmaster, weight reduction.

the SLP intake kit and full exhaust alone will cost about 1 grand.

Well I've seen the complete SLP induction kit for under $300 and I can get LT's w/ an ORY pipe for $500. I'm not interested in spending all the money it would take to get a catback which is why I'm considering a true dual setup. Texas speed sells them for $469.

Anyone know of anything else? That stall is really tempting but I'm trying to see what else is out there.
Vote for Pedro.

Not trying to get of track but what is better performance wise? Borla Exhaust or a true duel X-pipe? Or better yet whats the best kind of exhuast you can get (lets say you can get anything free and want the best preformance)

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
LT's (1-3/4 or 1-7/8 primaries depending on mods), 3" true duals with an X-pipe dumped at the rear axle is the best compromise between performance and (semi) legality. Type of muffler will determine how loud and how much HP as well as $$$. Most are within 5-10 HP of each other (depending on mods).
Monetarilly, bullets are cheaper than Magnaflow are cheaper than Borla. Used stainless steel headers are cheaper than coated new, size and brand will factor in also. You might get away with spending only $500 if you know how to wheel and deal and do all the work and welding. You could spend upwards of $2K (or more?) if you get Kooks or Stainless Works headers new and have somebody else fab up a stainless 3" setup with Borla XR1's. Over (or under) the axle out to the back is more $$$ also.
It all boils down to this: Speed is just a question of money. How fast do you want to go?Last edited by 67CamaroRSSS; 09-06-2007 at 07:40 PM.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
If I had $1500-2000 to spend on a bone stock Z28 and wasn't going to get a stall, this would be what I would do:
1. Sub frame connectors $150
2. Full exhaust(long tubes, y-pipe catback) $1000 range
3. Lid $75-100 range
4. LS6 intake $300 range
5. Tuning
Those mods would wipe out your money and put you in the 340 RWHP range and keep you very driveable. You would also have a new enthusiasm in your Z28

Why subframe connectors?

They give your car alot better frame rigidity. With the unibodies they have a bad habit of wanting to sag slightly in the center of the car after a few years especially if you race alot. Subframe connectors help with this and will also help keep your car from wanting to twist on launches. There just a good investment for the up keep of your cars body and appearance.

Wasn't able to see what you were trying to show in the link. Why the ram air over slp?

How difficult of a swap is that? Or is it a direct bolt-on?
