Need to get rid of rear hatch weight! Notch?

Got a 82 Z-28 building a frame up 7 second street rocket with a twin turbo ls1. The rear hatch weighs I gues 185lbs or more. Ive considered a notchback, making a lexan hatch, making my own from fiberglass or aluminum. What is the most economic for the most weight saved?

Lexan kit formed: $1100 12 lbs
Unformed: $400 but need an oven
    notch: $800 45 lbs
    hand made glass: ??
    Hand made al: ??

Lexan would be the top choice for a strip car but on the road its not ideal. Ands I would have to add significant bracing...

Im open to any suggestions!!? Anyone have experence with this?????Help!!!lol

I am pretty sure aftermarket hood companies like harwood make fiberglass reg. shape trunks.
