Hey i know this is off topic, but you guys with the 160k-180k plus mileage, is it worth it/cheaper, to just rebuild/pump up the car or sell it and get a lower mileage vehicle. Im sitting at 135k and I feel like im playing with fire DD such a high mileage LS1.

IMO, when you start getting that high of mileage (160-180K), you aren't just dealing with the motor at that point. You have to worry about suspension and drivetrain components wearing and starting to fail also. Just something to consider.

I agree, but anything can be replaced. People who start modding heavily fix all the weak points like rear ends and various suspension parts.

Bought mine a year ago with 106k has just under 111k now. Stored it over the winter but drive it everyday now. The truck is just too slow. I put on a front bumper, lights, fenders, hood,(car was wrecked so I got it cheap) swapped in some SS wheels, and all the bolt ons in the sig. Had the window motor crap out after I paid for a car wash and it was down so, yeah, I was mad. Fuel tank pressure sensor is bad so the check engine light is on but for what it costs, I will wait for the fuel pump to go out. Engine makes a lot of noise on cold start up so I'm saving for an LS6 swap.
Junkyard bought and "refurbished" 2002 Camaro Z28 - Pacetter Race LT's, TS&P ORY, Frost tune, Magnaflow, Ported TB, SLP Lid, Circle D 3000, 3.73's, SFC's.

While I have the 98 as a DD I also have the 02 as a toy. 98 stays stone stock and I rarely abuse it. I've driven it from Phx to LA 2x in the last 3 years. No problems.

The 02 OTOH, I beat on like it's a red-headed step child (drivetrain wise). It also demands more attention when it breaks (rear end stuff usually) as I drag race it. Otherwise it runs and looks like you'd expect a 47,xxx mile, well kept car to run and look.

FWIW, I had an 89 RS (305/700R4) as my DD before I acquired the 98. When I finally sold it it had 225,xxx on it. I only sold it as it just sat their on the side of the garage. I had to charge the battery but they drove it away...

Its funny you say you had a third gen sitting beside your garage. Seems like everywhere you go you see third gens that look like they have been parked for long periods of time. The town I live in has about 25,000 people and I walked past the city impound yard the other day and it had probably 40 cars sitting in it. Almost none were the same make and model but there was at least 3 third gens, one was on blocks. Off topic but funny to me.

I drove it for 2 years before I bought the 98. I was thinking of turning it into a drag car cuz it had few options (no pwr windows, seats, cloth interior, etc). It sat for so long the battery died. A friend bought it for his son so I gave him a killer deal.

I bought the 98 cuz I wanted another LS1 car. Also, if I'm gonna spend $$$ it's gonna go into the 67.

You're ahead of me son. The 98 turned over 181,xxx on Thursday.

Then again you have a 2000, I have a 98. Technically, my car has less miles per year than yours...

151k this week. Full boltons and frost tune. Interstate driven daily around 110 mi a day. Replaced the air compressor hose because sway bar rubbed a hole in it. before full exhaust, hollowed out cats because pass side was stopped up. O2 sens went bad, replaced two fronts and deleted rears.
