M6 Owners, How do i get into the 8's for a 1/8MI

My best last year was 9.2sec 1/8 mile... (completely stock)

I launched between 2000 and 2500 rpms and didnt just dump it.. tried to let off it smoothly

Do you guys start at a higher rpm? I feel like the clutch just slips if the engine is revved past 2500ish..?

This summer, i have Koni shocks, strano springs, shorter shifter shaft, LM1 Catback, SLP lid...

Could i get into the 8s???

I havent drag raced my camaro m6 yet but when i dump the clutch on it in first at like 3000 rpm on the street sometimes the clutch just spins then sometimes it burns the hell outa the tires then shift to 2nd and the clutch slips, if you are racing a heavier duty than stock clutch is required.

Sounds like your clutch is on the way out, because you should be well into the 8's in the 1/8th. I would look at an LS7 setup.

All that will do is make the clutch slip more and then when it grabs break the 10 bolt.

What i mean to say is my clutch seems to just slip if i launch around 3000 RPMS or more... it doesnt slip in any other situation...

REGARDLESS, what RPM do you guys start from at the tree?

Time for a clutch.
Like now.

If it slips....it is on the way out.

I just go by feel. I try to slip my clutch and tires equally, it nets my car a 1.99 or so with street tires. I guess it would be around 2,000 rpm.

Back when the stock clutch still worked well, (long time ago) I used to stage around 2500-3000rpm and walk the clutch out. I'm way out of practice since my 142K mile original clutch hasn't been what it used to be for years.
Every Car/Driver is different so you really need to practice and find out what works for you.

Spoken very well. On my first track visit in my previous stock M6, I managed a best of 8.90s@86mph (twice) with a 2.2 60 ft' time. That was launching between 2500-2800RPM and still spinning like crazy. If I launched at 2200RPM and below, the Bridgestone Potenza RE910s (dont think they make them anymore) grabbed like crazy and wouldn't net me any good launches (as the sudden traction was unexpected and my throttle reaction wasn't worth a damn).

This was my experience. Take it for what it's worth

This is also why I bought an A4 this time around

if my clutch starts getting bad during daily driving i'll buy an LS7 clutch setup... Hopefully i dont need to for a long long time.

Not sure what clutch packages come with these days, just make sure to check your flywheel for hotspots and to have it re-machined if so (or buy a new one)

LS7 clutch/flywheel combo is what I'm getting along with all new hydraulics

But you're not putting out enough power to utilize anything other than a stock flywheel

You should be in the 8's stock. Not trying to be a dick but how is your shifting? Best advice for launching is practice, if you can get a decent launch on the street, the track will be a cake walk.

Try to find a not so busy road on a hot day, lower your tire pressure a bit and have at it. Start in the lower rpm range and work your way up.
