Ls6 intake
Just got an 01 SS and I was wondering if I had an ls6 intake. I really don't think I do because it looks just like my cousins 99 ws6 intake only he has a bit bigger opening for air flow. Maybe the last owner took it off before selling it. can some one post a pic of it, so I know if I do have one?

yes you have a ls6 intake...all 01-02 do. Your buds 99 has a ls1 intake unless it was swapped already

No the LS6 is an intake manifold. You cousin most likely has the fast lsx intake manifold, as previously cited.
The only way you're gonna know for sure is to take it out and see if the runners are flat or not underneath. Trust me, it's not worth it, and it's 99% likely that you do have the LS6 manifold as you own a 01 (01-02 had it stock).

Actually the LS1 intake has the egr tube entering right behind the throttle body(entering from the top). If yours has a block off there and not a tube you have an LS6. The underside is also slightly different as well, but you would have to remove it to see that.

I bought a k&n filter for the stock. should I keep it or buy a new one?

keep the K&N but buy a new lid because the smooth lids get rid of the very restrictive silencer that the air enters before going through to the TB. i have a SLP Lid and im pleased with it.

Yeah, I got my lid for $20 used. That's not expensive IMHO. Atleast not for like 5whp.

You can also check the part number....if it's an LS6 it will be on the driver's side of the manifold.
