LS3 Stroker Build
A few months ago i posted some pics of where my LS1 broke from the block where the starter bolts up.
I decided to build and LS3 and I have all the parts and machine work done. I was planning on putting the motor together this weekend and have it running by sunday. Since i'm planning on using my same camshaft, as i pulled it out last night i noticed it had a problem. For some reason it was a bad stick, its good thing it didnt blow up the LS1. Anyway now I have to wait for them to custom grind me another cam, but it might not go together till next weekend. I was excited then really bummed when i noticed the cam was screwed.
Here is what I have done to the motor that will be living in my 2001 Z28. And all the work done by me and a buddy that ownes a Machine Shop Here in Midland, TX. Rusert Machine!:

Ls3 progress
How is the LS3 stroker progressing. I have hopes of doing a very similar LS3 project. I have seen 2 stroker kits on ebay to replace the rotating assembly 1. $1800.00, 2. $2800.00. Both are very pricy. Are they a necessity, or might there be another quality way to get around this cost.
I was noticing the specs on your cam, very aggressive, sounds as if you are building a major killer. Way to build. Keep the good work coming, I have many more questions. thx

It's done man, I just haven't had time to get in and give an update. Runs good I'm still working on the tuning end but, I don't have much time so I may just crack and take it somewhere. I have driven it a few times, not leaning out at all. Seems like the tune really isn't bad. I raced a trans am this weekend that had an ms3 cam and claimed he was the fastest f body in his town. Yup!! Put like 4 cars on the fellow

As for your questions I would use a local reputable machine shop, when you start a build like this clearances are very important. But yea that price is about right for a rotating assembly. The necessity depends on how you will use the car. I'm going to spray and spin it at 8k. So for me yea I need it. But if your going to be conservative and the car will only see about 6k occasionally then I'd say probly not.
