new mustangs are nothing special, just a slight upgrade from years past. any ls1 fbody will pull it hard stock for stock.

manual or automatic it does not matter. How do I know? I've killed three already with my auto and its a Z.

It definitely wouldn't matter between the ls1 and the 4.6 mustank.

Women! I know how you feel, my sis almost got a v6 mustang a few years ago. Thank God I talked her out of it. She doesn't like camaros, go figure, but me and her bf are trying to convince her to get a GTO. At least she likes domestics.

the curb weight of a '05 GT is 3483 pounds
the curb weight of a 2000 SS is 3439 oounds

The GT has 300 HP and 320 ft.lbs of torque at the crank stock
The SS has 320 HP and 345 ft.lbs of torque at the crank stock

in theory, if both cars have a driver of the same weight and driving skill, the Camaro should win.The whole theory of manuels vs. automatics doesn't always make sense, since manuels are only a little faster with a skilled driver, if the person in the GT can't shift for shit he'll lose to someone with an auto. And torque is what matters, it's what gets the wheels turning.

torque-something that produces or tends to produce torsion or rotation; the moment of a force or system of forces tending to cause rotation.

I'm no expert, but I thought an auto can shift faster than manual, especially a stalled a4. The LS1 will kill it by a lot though, more than you'd think 20 hp and 25 ft-lbs would.

hell no man. 4.6 mustangs are so slow. before i was thinkin of buying an f body, i was lookin at stangs. I wanted to get a newer one because they look sweeter but my friend said they're slow compared to the 5.0. Good thing I smarted up!

The SS has more than 320 at the crank! You can't believe everything you read. Especially published manufacture numbers! I'm not sure about the Mustang, but I was disappointed in driving one too. I drove auto's and manuals both. The 350Z's I drove were more fun than the Mustang was!
