if you get close to 500 at the rear wheels you can kiss that stock rearend goodbye. You better make sure that you have the extra money for this replacement or you will be sitting at home looking at a nice 500 hp car that you can't go anywhere on.

It just depends really on where you buy the rearend but these are the way to go.......I am a die hard Chevy fan but the Ford 9" is one tough rearend.

all ls1 are aluminum block, aluminum heads. the same applies for the ls2. you could probably rebuild your existing motor, add full exhaust, cam, and other supporting mods for the price of a crate ls2. the biggest expense will be your heads and your drivetrain, assuming of course you know that your auto will have problems at 500 horse, your rear will break with little over stock power, and your track runs will be nothing without sfc's, control arms, torque arm, and decent tires.

if you have the money, go for broke, go BIG CUBES.

to get 500 at the wheels you will need a good health shot of nitrous or go force fed

you can make your LS1 into a 408. I forget how you do it, either enlarge your bore or your stroke. maybe both?

For the same money order a TSP 402 or 408, it is still an LS series motor and with the texas giant and bolt-ons you can make over 500 at the wheels N/A. Xenon front end FTW! black Halos FTW! lol, I have both. Moser ford 9" from TSP is like 2100 I think, just look around www.texas-speed.com and you'll find everything you could want

also, do you have an auto or M6, I can't remember if it was said in the thread already. If you have an automatic the tranny will go LONG before the rear end in most cases

the ls3 will be out soon for the 08 vette...430 hp 6.2. I'm sure there will be a crate sometime next year...or just wait for the ls3 to comeout so the price drops for the discontinued ls2.
