    LS1/LS6 intake.. whats the dif?

    how do itell the dif. between the 2 intakes, the guy who sold me the car said when the motor was rebuilt they may have used a LS6 intake but he wasnt sure, someone told me the LS6 intake is black , but from what i see on ebay they both look the same to me.

    LS1 intakes have the egr hookup on the front of them.
    LS6 don't have the egr
    BUT, it could be a SLP LS6 which would have the egr, but i doubt its one of those as most people just delete the egr.

    You can also find out from the casting #, but i'm not sure what #s it need to be. Someone else will chime in.

    exhuast gas recirculation (egr)..its to help keep emmissions down. it reducing oxides of nitrogen emissions. a small amount of exhaust gas is recirculated back into the intake manifold to dilute the incoming air/fuel mixture. it cools down the combustion temperature to help burn better/more completely.

    ok then if the egr is not there at all (not blocked off) you most likely have a LS6 intake manifold.

    Maybe, but '97 thru '00 vettes had LS1 intakes that didn't have EGR.
