Looking to buy a Z28. How much should i pay??

Im looking at a 2001 Z28 at a dealer. basic options and in overall good condition, by no means excellent. Im thinking i shouldnt pay over 11,000. Is this too much or could i go even lower?

Not really your situation, but I paid $13,000 for my 2000 SS m6 with 38,000 miles fully loaded w/leather, ASR and power everything from a private party. Hope that helps some.

    05 Wrangler
    00 Z28 sold :-(

When I bought mine i paid 8,700 for a 00 Z28 auto with all options except the disc changer. She had 72k on the clock but that's nothing for a taken care of LS1...the pass axel bearing was shot though. Mine was through private party too..

What does the dealer have it listed for?

but just be careful, because alot of dealers and private sellers will try to milk them.

This one has 84000 miles, and is in pretty good shape for its age. I paid way too much when i bought my WS6 last summer for 17500, with 74000 miles. I now have an audi S4 which im trying to sell myself but am having no luck. Going through a dealer makes it easy but you have to expect to pay a little more, i just dont want to to overpay like i did last time.

one time i saw a Z with 170,000 miles for $8000 and then the dealer next door with another Z with 60,000 miles for $10,000 , same year and everything. the dealer just tries to get what they can from the trade in and make more from the sell soo, just be careful.

another thing to add is if you buy from a private seller you can pay less taxes by saying that you got the car for 4000 $ instead of 12,000, butwhen you buy from a dealer you can get a extended warrenty if the miles are pretty good. but pay the full taxes soo they both can be pretty good to go to

That doesn't always work. I know in MA that the sales tax is based on book value, not on actual price paid.

How long ago? I'm interested in an almost identical car, right now it's listed at 14k.

Well that's cool. I live in RI now, so I don't know how they do it here. Hopefully it's the same as Detroit, because as bad as people say MA is for taxes, RI is worse. Sales tax here is 7.25%.

Edit: Nope, looked it up. From the RI DMV website: "If you purchase a vehicle from a private party and the vehicle is seven (7) years old or newer, you will pay sales tax based on 7% of the NADA book value (blue book) of the vehicle or on the purchase price, whichever is higher."

in alabama it goes by whatever is on the bill of sale. also i wanted to say that dealerships are ripoffs. i was looking into this other 02 z they wanted 14000 for it, my comp messed up and i couldnt email them for like 2 days. when my comp was fixed and i emailed them, they said they just got done trading it in and got what i offered them (13,500). well i got the dealer info from the guy that traded it and i called the dealer and they said they couldnt give me any info until the car was ran through the books and inspected and ready for sale. so i waited like a week or so and called back. the car that they gave 13,500 for, was being sold for 19,500 or 19,800. aint that some b/s? i say just be patient and you will find a good deal. like me. but the car you found doesnt sound too bad, it depends on miles and options.
