Red with Silver Stripes- 2002 Camaro SS LE
License Plate on SLP Grill
OK, so I just purchases a 2002 SS LE Camaro and it has the SLP grill. The car has no front license plate but my home state (Oregon) requires one. I know that most people would just not put one on...because I have heard you usually don't get pulled over for it...but I don't want to risk it.
I was wondering if anyone knows if a license plate bracket is hard to attach to the SLP grill? Also, if anyone has any photos of a SLP grill car with a license plate so I can see how it looks.
I'll probably paint the bracket red...I figure that will look the best (and by "best" I mean "not quite as bad").

I think looks tacky that way to me... I'm in the same situation. I've got missouri tags cuz that's where I'm from. I live in tennessee where a front tag is not required. needless to say I don't have a front tag. slp used to have front license plate brackets that screw into the bottom of the bumper and bars come forward and up for the plate to mount to. I'd sell you mine, but I think soon as I get rid of it I'd maybe need it. keep your eyes open, contact slp, and check ebay.
yea, you wouldn't catch me dead putting holes in my grille

Red with Silver Stripes- 2002 Camaro SS LE
Well, I think I'm just going to attach a bracket over the SS logo. I think it looks tacky too if its not centered...and I don't like it when it hangs below the nose of the car either (it'll get all scraped up).
Do you guys think the stock GM bracket will work with this grill?

eek, please god don't put a bracket on an SLP grill.... if you're dead set on a centered plate, remove the grill and get a stocker painted to match the car with a bracket on it...
She's baaaaaccccck...

I ordered my car with several slp options, the grill being one of them. It came with a bracket that you can install that mounts under the nose on the passenger side front of the car; luckily I've never needed to install it. It's different than the one SLP currently offers.

I have looked at several options to hang the plate and I really don't think these are right for me. I just don't care for the look. What I'm thinking about doing is getting the factory plate mount. I should be able to modify it with a dremel tool to contour to the SLP grill. Then, I will pull the grill off and see if I can get some thin metal straps and wrap them around and attach to the back side of the grill. If it works, I should be able to attach the whole plate apparatus without putting holes in the grill. I'll paint the apparatus red and call it done.
Now, this will cover up the SS logo but thats OK.
Does this sound like something that will work?

NOOO. Just put your licence plate in your front windshield. The licence plate kills the look of out cars IMHO. Its perfectly legal, well at least in Cali.
