i am the second owner of an 02 ss. id assume if the 02 car owners would be getting ths letter, it would be sent to the original owner of the car and not me? has anyone with an 02 gotten this letter or is it just for the 01's?

Red- '02 Camaro SS
I own a '02 SS and I got the letter a few days ago. I haven't had any problems yet and probably won't. The letter was just enough push to stop my procrastinating and order my LT's and ORY. And while I was at it I ordered a Diablo handheld to do a little tune to go with my new "tune". As far a GM reimbursing me for that, well that's a long shot. If thats the case I'll say the right side cat ruined my car and I need a brand new LS7.

Call your local dealer with your VIN, they'll give you the straight scoop.

As long as you have contacted GM and had them update the owner information you will receive the letter. Understand that even if you have no problems with your Cats at this point, this letter, 05513, covers the Cats for 10 years, 120,000 miles. It doesn't mean that if they are fine now but go out next year you get hosed.
I have 44,000 on my 02 LE and I will stick the letter into the glove box and save it. If you call GM they will give you a file number with your name on it showing that you called in about this. This is not, NOT, a recall. So mention 05513 and it has to do with the Cats and they will take care of you.

I got the letter yesterday and called GM. My '00 SS has 67,000 miles and so far no problem. But I'm wanting to do away with my converters anyway, like a lot of you all have. What's the best way? Cut and gut them so it looks like you still have them? Or completely remove them? I know you have to install O2 simulators either way, so which are the best O2 sims to use? If I completely remove them, what is used in there place? Cost?? Thanks.

I have an 02 SS and still have my cats and yes they are fucking up and making rattling noise in them so I too will be going in to have them fixed .. there was a thread saying something about this months ago before the letter even came out I was going to the LT and ORY route but want to get it professionally tuned afterwards and time is too tight right now so .. itll be getting new cats

As for the original owner getting the letter .. your cars vin number states what year it is so that should cover it no matter who is in possession of it now
