    Just some Concerns......

I bought my Camro about 3 months ago and it had 54xxx miles on it.
It is in great condition, but i dont know how well it was taken care of before me.

Is there any kind of things i should check on? "tune up?"
spark plugs? filters?... ect. (already changed the air filter, oil and oil filter).

    any recomendations?

    Thanks!

Check T/B and MAF, see if they were maintained. Yup. I recently cleaned them both. (the T/B was a bit dirty)
Drop the oil pan, and see if there's any sludge buid up. Gonna do that when i change my oil again.
Did the air filter looked maintained. Its a K&N filter and it looked pretty good.
What color is the brake fluid, is it clear or brown ? Havent checked. but im pretty sure ive got warped rotors.
Was the eng. bay nice an clean and looks like it was kept up? It was VERY clean... almost too clean.... ETC........
what about the tranny? im clueless when it comes to trannys......

    Thanks for the Reply!

Replace your plugs/wires, get a oil change with some Mobil 1 5/30 Synthetic...who knows what the previous owner put in the car. A fuel filter is also good to change because it will build up bad shit if the previous owner put 7/11 or AMPM gas in it. Also get yourself a can of BG 44k to clean any carbon build up on the fuel lines, injectors, etc. That is what I did when I bought my car from the previous owner.

Im changing the oil with 10W-30 mobile 1 synthetic.

and what about running FP60? i heard it's very good stuff.

does anyone know how much that Royal purple tranny fluid is?
is it hard to change? or do i need a lift to do it?

    thanks!

I went to my local shucks and they had Royal Purple 10W-30 for $6.2x. a quart.

is that about right? I thought it would be more expensive.

Do not use 10W30 oil in an LS1. Use either 0W30 or 5W30. I use either RP or Amsoil and I have 122K miles on my car and just did H/C swap. My engine looked new on the inside. I currently run Amsoil 0W30 in my motor (411 RWHP/396 RWTQ) without any problems. By all means change your fluids out for RP or Amsoil, you will see a big difference in the way the car shifts and your gas mileage.

Looks like everyone else has covered the major areas, but spend $10 and change your fuel filter as well. No telling how long its been in there and might save your fuel pump from taking a dump on ya

Its like anything if u can afford the high dollar stuff good deal. If not using regular oil worked great for years before all the synthetic oils came out. By the way nice color on the SS

I'm sure he feels like dropping the K member to look inside the oilpan. lol. Just run some Seafoam thru it before changing the oil. I wouldn't use Mobil 1 either, the quality has gone way downhill for the money you pay.

If you want to use full synthetic the only choices nowadays are the Amsoil atm series, Redline (what I use), and Royal Purple. If you want to use a syn blend like Mobil 1 I'd go Castrol syntec or Penzoil Platinum, more cost effective.
