My 1969 Z28 is 1 of 206 cars made with 4 wheel disc brakes in 1969, that's a rare high performance option. My 1970 Camaro SS396 is 1 of 600 made with the L78 396/375 hp engine which is pretty rare. Adding all the other combination of options and each car is probably 1 of 1 made but that doesn't really count.
I disagree. There were over 8,000 Z28's made in 1970. There were also 2,400 SS396 Camaros made in 1970 (give or take). It could be argued that L34/L78 is just breaking those down further. What tranny does your SS have? M21, M22, M40? People break those numbers down. We all know a M22 car is more valuable. Is it an RS? There is no performance added with an RS car but they are more desirable and considered "rare". What about the desirability of a Hugger compared to a Citrus car. These things matter.

Granted they are a current car and can't be viewed in hindsight like our older cars...but they are tougher to aquire and relatively rare.

I'm not trying to make anyone mad, but the real rarity comes down to performance options. So for a 96-02 Camaro it's basically the SS option and any further breakdown is pretty much meaningless. For 69 the real performance options were the L72 427 cars(which roughly 800-1000 were made), the ZL1 aluminum 427 which 69 were made, the L89 aluminum head 396 which 311 were made(and this may be a combo of Nova and Camaro), the JL8 4 wheel disc brakes which 206 were made. They made almost 20,000 Z28's in 69 so they are not rare, 3700+ Indy Pace Cars so they are not rare. In 1970, the top of the line engine option was the L78 SS396/375 which only 600 were made, the L34 396 was not really a good performer, and the Z28 which had a lot more made so it's not that rare. Transmission, rear gears and other options don't really matter beyond the top hp engine. So like I said, my 2000 SS might be 1 of 200 made in it's color, interior, trans, options, but then my 69 and 70 would be considered 1 of 1 each so don't look at the color, trans, radio, interior breakdown or it will water it down too much. Regardless, you better enjoy your car or it's not worth having!

ok you saying how slp breakd it down doesnt matter but you think 4wheeldisc breaks is rare lol i think my car was 1/30 two come with synthetic oil from the factory or w.e 1 of 255 black auto ttop or 1of 66 with performanceexhaust or one of 100 or w.e with chrome plated 5 spoke zr1 rims or w.e thats rare to me ! note 4 wheel disc breaks and even that is rare but either way you look at the break down its the same wither way disc brakes or chrome wheelz or w.e , but my car is 4510./4850 total thats RAre considering 40-60,000 odd camaros were built and only 1,300 automatics in 99 were made, so thats my point lol, and my numbers or almost aproximate lol

I'm going to assume that you don't know that there were 243,085 Camaros built in 1969 and only 206 of them had 4 wheel disc brakes. That makes the JL8 4 wheel disc brake option .00085% of total production. They only made 69 cars with the ZL1 aluminum 427 option so that is even rarer. Add your transmission, color, interior and other options and like I said, all of these cars would break down to a 1 of 1 made. So it doesn't make sense to break down the options too far or it dilutes it too much. The ultimate is still probably the 71 Hemi Cuda conv which they only made 11 cars. They sell for $2 to 4 million dollars.

agreed i understand your point , but for people like me who will never see that kinda car the next best thing is for me to seperate my F-body from the rest in the best way possible you know like i haver nothing on the 69 stats you speak off cuz that the 69 pu the camaro on the map forever but no w with the ls1 camaro it put a car with stock performance that dominates dollar for dollar and bolt on for bolt on so i dunno you r right you car is soooo rare and im glad you have it but for you to come on in and tell us what we do to seperate ourselfs in the f body world isnt cool ya know , were not comparing 69 zl1 to black coupe 98 but 99 ss with zl chrome rims to 40,000 that didnte come with it and that makes me happy lol i dunno i guess you can get my point

Rare is like my car, might not be worth anything right now but being only 1 of 37 and of those 37 only 5 had the tan top/interior package. Also of those 37 only 2 had all the SLP options mine being one. Who knows if its gonna really be worth alot but I can tell ya to me it's worth it everytime I turn the key. Enjoy your cars guys

Yeah, it gets tough to compare cars today to 20+ years ago because nobody actually orders a car today the way they want it. It really comes down to the dealers ordering up a bunch of cars with those option packages and a certain number of colors and transmissions. My 96 SS I sold last year was a white hardtop which was very limited production compared to the t-tops and convertibles. I consider my 2000 SS super rare to me because it has the ASR traction control button on the dash that even lights up, but it doesn't have traction control! I think it was a factory screw up and someone put the switch in and wired it up, but no traction control on the door sticker and no ASR parts under the hood so it was never there. But my 2000 SS is my daily driver and I love it so I don't really care if it's worth anything special. If you don't enjoy your car then why bother having it!

call me sick and twisted, but everytime i see a post on an fbody message board where some guy says he totalled his 02 ss it kinda excites me because i know there is now 1 less car of my make and model in the world, which makes mine just slightly more valuable lol. it's like after that idiot comedian eddy griffin wrecked that ferrari enzo, they said every other enzo was now worth approximately $10,000 more.
