Also, if you pay attention, you can hear/feel the injectors come back on if you wait long enough as you decelerate. It happens about 1100 RPM, that's when the burble comes back into the exhaust noise. I bet you can hear some nice V8 sounds when you let off the gas in that 454 Chevelle, if you let the trans slow the car.

It does sound a little different. You have to coax the LS1 to make noise,.....a 454 needs no coaxing, its raw unadulterated american muscle.

I know about those sounds........I had a .030 over 428 Pontiac motor in my '67 GTO. Drove it to New Orleans and back in the late 90s, gas was under a dollar a gallon for 93 octane that spring. I would stop every 180 miles or so, to almost fill the 18 gallon tank, get some junk food, and still get change from my $20.

Somewhere in Mississippi on that trip, a '71? Chevelle that had SS 454 id on it and I raced a couple times on the deserted interstate, the winner was always the person who got the intial jump, then neither could pull away. That was a fun vacation, just before I got married, it was a nice cross country drive to visit my brother.
