Perfect school attendance, perfect school grades, and a behind the wheel driving class got it to only double what my 1972 Chevelle was...and thats full coverage. I'm not sure exactly sure what it costs, but I believe its right around $800/6 months.

I forgot if you can get the car under your parents name insurance won't be bad at all usually. If it has to be in your name there going to rape you but if you keep your butt out of trouble it should drop every 6 months. At the time I got my car my parents told me I had to get my own insurance policy if I got the car. I think they were trying to steer me away from a v-8 f-body.

I got an 88 Supra Turbo when i was 18, paid $235 a month at Farm Bureau!! Clean driving record, good grades and no tickets....Then i got married, got two more cars, my SS and my wife's 04 f-150, changed insurance companies to State Farm, now i pay $260 a month for all three, full coverage, 1000 deductible...definately shop around, because State Farm told me that i was getting raped by Farm Bureau, and that i would have been paying them like $100 bucks a month, pissed me the f@ck off!!! Oh well, life goes on...

Shopping around is a good idea. When I had Allstate it was almost 800 for just liability (for my 94 Camaro). I went shopping around and Geico topped them by offering full coverage for 390 for six months. For the 02 it was not that bad of a raise only about 100 or so.

I think that is only true for liability. Mine went up almost 200 per six months since the comp and collision had to cover a higher value car.

I've had a 98 v6 and an 01 ss and the difference in insurance for the two is less than 200 a year... when it comes to insurance v6 and v8 dont make that much difference, its just classified as a sports car and thats it. i pay around 800 every six months and i'm 18.

Deductible is what you pay if you wreck your car or it gets stolen or something.

Ex. If you have a $500 deductible, and you wreck your car and do $3000 in damage, then you pay the first $500 and the insurance company pays the other $2500.

The higher your deductible, the lower your insurance payment will be.
