There are alot of factors they use, such as where you are, etc. Best bet is to just start calling different companies and getting quotes.

Like said above, Just call around and get some quotes.
One company quoted me 5 grand ever six months for my SS then another company quoted me 450 bucks ever six months for full coverage.

You might need to take an Asprin before getting insurance quotes so you dont have a heart attack at age 16. I sell motorcycles for a living and I have seen rates as high as $13,000 a year for 18 year olds on GSXR 600's..........
It's not right but on the other hand, How many people do you know that is 16-17 and have a Camaro- Z-28 that they have not wrecked?
Good luck

When I first got my camaro back in end of 03 I was paying a little over $1500 every six months it was almost as much for insurance as it was the car. I was 18 at the time, shop around find the best rate you can I had alot of copanies telling me $2000+ for six months. Really it should be all that bad as the car is 10+ years old and the value of the vehicle is probably not all that much. Four years later I'm paying $870 and that is with a recent accident that made it go up about $150 for six months.

I was 19 when I bought my 98 z in 99 and I paid $210 (full coverage) a month through progressive, listed as 3rd driver (parents 1st and 2nd) with a clean record. Liability is a whole lot cheaper if you can buy the car without having a loan. When I was 16 I was going to get a 85 svo mustang, until my insurance company said they wouldn't cover me, even at 19 I had to go with another company for the z. In the long run for me it was the best thing that could of happened since i didn't get the mustang lol. Regardless if you get a loan on the z your insurance (full coverage) will more than likely be more than the car payment. A trick to lower the rate is to have your parents list you as primary driver on one of their other vehicles, then you will be covered on any vehicle they own. But if you have an accident in the z they will either force you to be listed on the z or make your parents sign something that you will never drive the z. The insurance company I had at 16 would only insure the mustang if my parents signed a statement that I wouldn't get behind the wheel. Either way insurance is a B*tch.
Even now 28, married, and clean record (other than ticket I got last nite ugh!!) I pay a little under 100 a month, the same as I pay for my chevy 05 diesel 2500 4x4 (bought new) puting over 40k a year. Both have 100 comp and 500 coll. deductables.Last edited by jeremy_m70; 09-08-2007 at 11:46 AM.

Surprisingly low. My dad said I would never be able to afford it, but when he started shopping he was surprised how low it was. Perfect school attendance, perfect school grades, and a behind the wheel driving class got it to only double what my 1972 Chevelle was...and thats full coverage. I'm not sure exactly sure what it costs, but I believe its right around $800/6 months.

Black- 2002 Camaro Z28
im 17 and drive a 02 z and mines aound 150ish a month i think just for my car, both me and my dad have a clean driving record, and use geico.full coverage. also had a dodge dakota 4x4, and a bmw 540i, and it was 800 for the 6 month, something like that. but u gotta think, my dad said that adding me to the plan trippled the cost. he might get a discount for being a cop thou, makes me having my car more difficult too.

NBM / Silver- 00 SS / 71 SS Elcamino
I shop for insurance constantly. Esurance gives me the best rate by far. I have 4 cars all fully covered with $500 deductible, I have a 2004 f-150 FX-4 extendend cab, my 2000 ss Camaro, and 2 2006 Kia Rios. for my wife and I. I pay $1010 every 6 months for all 4. We are both in our mid 30's with clean driving records.
My advise to you is shop around you can find a $400-500 split every 6 months depending on companys.
I would avoid geico, they raped me when I got my camaro and make you pay for all those stupid commercials they play every 2 seconds. Needless to say I droped them immediately when they quoted me for my Camaro. Esurance beat them by close to $500 every 6 months.
Another thing to look at is paying your whole 6 month premium at once they give you a big discount that way as well.

I got my first camaro when i was 16 and it was a v6 (momma always said i couldnt handle the v8!) and i payed somethin like 800 every six months. (like 130 month). I checked on insurance for a z28 or ss when i was shoppin for one and the insurance only went up like $100 a year and the car's listed in my name BUT under my parents' policy (kinghorn insurance). but i just got lucky, like that one dude said, how many 16 year olds have owned a z28 camaro and not wrecked it? drivin the v6 for a couple years probably saved my life b/c when you start driving especially that young, you think you're bulletproof. you have no idea what 325hp can do usually until it's too late. if i was you i'd buy a honda... no but really if u get that car be careful man.
