Anything can be installed yourself with the right tools.

LS6 intake the first time took me 6 hours.
Might be a 2 hour job now...if that.

Headers and a Borla. Sound will be very nice.
I paid $300 for header install years ago. I would guess $400 is a good price now.
Again...install is a weekend if you want to save the cash.

    Honestly....no.
Shops go by labor hours. Each job has a certain amount of hours to complete. Regardless of how long it actually takes.

They can if you don't get the ones with emissions fittings.

You can check out ls1howto.com and get instructions on how to change your intake. Their instructions are very precise and easy to understand. I changed my cam with their instructions.

Avoid those. They hang REALLY low and have a very outdated design.
I had them a while back. No longer.

    Get some Jet-Hots or Pacesetters.

you can install headers and LS6 yourself. Like Mr. luos said the 1st time i did my LS6 it took me a long time, but once you've done it it is very simple and quick. Its nothing difficult just a little time consuming - and getting to the back bolts is kind of a bitch.

Also if you do the LS6 make sure to be very gentle with the oil pressure sending unit. It is located behind the manifold on the back of the block. I learned the hard way and a new one is $60.

Long tubes will really make a difference with a borla. I have a borla on my SS and am using stainless works long tubes. they are quite expensive, but well worth it. I would recommend getting the headers Jet-Hot coated. It will pull the heat away from the motor to the cats. If you change your headers be sure to do some high flow cats at the same time. As far as an LS6 intake, I plan on doing one soon. Ill let you know what I think. Definatley get tuned professionally after those mods though to get better gains.

Also, as far as SLP headers are concerned, spend a few extra bucks to get the stainless works
