- Want a new car
I had one with my 97 z and I had a bunch of bolt on stuff and I couldn't tell if the performance was any different. I also was using on on my 01 SS but deprogrammed when I had some warrenty work done and I don't think the difference is noticable either. What I did notice on the 97 z is that when I sold the car I deprogrammed it and noticed it ran rich for a while so then I started thinking maybe it was running lean with the program but I am not sure, maybe someone else has facts on that. I also started thinking that when you throw a code like I was with the O2 sensors and cat on my SS that the factory programming defaults to a fuel setting and I wasnt sure it the programmer may throw that factory setting off so the fuel ratio is not safe, not positive on that either but just some thoughts if anyone really knows. I do like having the ability to read codes and set other things like top speed, like I'm gonna go 150 ;_) but the rev limiter change and tire, gear etc changes are good. I got mine used so the cost was not bad for just the things I want to use it for. I probably will not reprogram to the performance tune though.

save the money and then save an extra $100 dollars and get a real tune...
makes the car run leaner. you know the saying, 'leaner is meaner'. i know this for a fact because I had the HPPIII on my SS and did a run with the HPPIII and then without. I was learn and going back to the factory tune settings i only lost about 4rwhp/tq total...

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Find a good tuner that has HP Tuners or LS1 Edit. You need to be able to access the fuel tables (at a min) and use a dyno (or have a spot to run WOT under load) to datalog info and properly tune these cars.
