    Hp/torque????????

Got a question for all you Guru's.

How much horspower / torque would it take to run 9 sec 1/4 miles in a car with no weight reductions? 3.73 gears

Just to give you a general rule to work with, it will typically take 650 - 700 rwhp to take a 3500 lb car down the quarter in 9.99. A 9.00 would require substantially more (200 rwhp).

That being said, there are a TON of factors involved including -- transmission, gearing, traction, track conditions, etc. Do you have any more info about the car, setup, your goals -- we might be able to give you a little more specific advice.
2002 Camaro SS M6, 2.5 PRC 5.3L heads, TFS 228/230 cam, FAST 92, bolt ons + a 10 lb bottle in the back.

1989 Corvette L98, A4, Full bolt ons, etc.

    Thumbs up

My car is an A4 procharged with 3.73 gears, 2300 stall, stock suspension, stock block, Kooks headers/hooker cat-backs and stock heads with small cam making 600rwhp.

All of the 1/8 to 1/4 mile conversion charts I've looked at says in order to run 9.98 in the 1/4 the car needs to run 6.40's in the 1/8.

ive seen as little as five hundred some horse cars run 10's, and as much as six hundred some horse cars run elevens. . . .i think hp in the 600's can break the 9's w/ all the other "stuff" bein' right. i run 11's and i'm nowhere near 600's.
2000 red ss: >2" drop, koni adjustables 'n 275 s-compounds all way around, giant brakes, dynatech LT's, borla catback (no plate), t56, tubular everything, HARD TOP, caged, "stock" heads 'n a mean cam. -2* front camber.
