it all depends on road conditions, tires, and total power that your car is putting down.
but just practice, if its stock, on street radials, try launching at aprox 2000-3000 rpm on dry road, and you should hook well and take-off fast. if you rev right up to 5000, you will be spinning real nicely for a while.
just practice, get to know the car, and it'll become second nature to you.

I've learned that my best launch comes from feather the throttle on take off. I can't just dump the clutch or I spin.

yeah I can't dump teh clutch eaither I just site there spinning. feather the clutch it really just takes practice. plus if your going to be doing alot of hard launches might want to check into a clutch.

Slip the clutch. If you are dumping, you better have a 9" rearend and slicks.

i learned to feather in a 1988 b2000 pick up. best way to learn is get in the driveway and put the rear wheels on the lip of the curb where the street and the driveway meet, try not to let the car roll past the meeting point while alternating engaging and releasing the clutch and giving it gas thats how i learned
thanx PELONE
