Changing your fuel filter on schedule is cheap insurance to help out your fuel pump.

Just put a new one on today with my Racetronix fuel pump. The filter had maybe 10K miles on it and the tank was really clean. It is good insurance and I don't want to have to pull the pump again.

I change mine every spring when I get it out of storage and burn the old tank of gas.

One of my customers at work, on a 98 jimmy, we were changing the fuel filter....for the first time. It was so rusted on, it twisted the fuel lines while trying to unbolt it. To make a long story short, she came in for a $48 fuel filter, and left with over $400 in fuel lines, and a $950 fuel pump.

^^^And it was only supposed to be a fuel filter! Been there, done that stuff with our customers. I change our filters about every 30k.

i bought my camaro since spring of '02 with 26k miles and this is the first time ive changed the filter (now at 43k miles). and the filter location in the camry is a PIA to reach (buried in the engine compartment). ive owned this car for 2.5 years and while i was replacing the rusted-out fuel line i changed the filter. the fitler was rusted to the holding bracket and i could not disconnect the fuel line feeding in.
