    How much Power?... Question!

back when I bought my car it didn't have Catalytic Converters and I never thought anything of it... but I came to wonder...

"Does taking the Cats off free up any power in the LS1?"

it's a 1999 Z28... just wondering if it actually matters at all

I dynoed my with the cats @ 306rwhp and 311rwtrq. I read a post on LS1Tech with a guy that dynoed his car with the cats and then cut them out and dynoed again. The car made 10hp more at peak but lost a little mid range power.

YA its an auto. But I have a lid, ram air mode, exhaust and a tune. Oh ya and the gutted cats. The ram air mod doesn't really make more power on the dyno because the air isn't really being forced in. The guy at thunder racing said I could add about 10 more hp to that # while driving on the street.

YA that was with the tune but I also still had my cats in at the time. LS1's differ so much in power. I've seen a stock 6sp. make 321rwhp and 340rwtrq stock, no mods. The norm is a stock A4 makes around 290 to 310 to the wheels with no mods at all.

You should be making more like 310-320 on a good day. The day I dynoed it was about 98 degrees and almost 100% humidity.

In good air a stock A4 runs about 13.4-13.6 @ 104-106mph. The Mach-1 will run around 14.3-14.0 at 98-102mph. You should beat him by about 3-4 cars. stock for stock.
