69,000 miles here-rebuilt tranny only because a shop I took it to took my car out on a joy ride and ruined it. I also put a new ac compressor in it cause the bearing noise in the original was driving me nuts but it still worked fine-I prolly should have just waited.

SpurSS has 101,000+ on her now and she has been very nice to me, 100K first set of pads, turned the rotors and down the road I went, several fuel filters, K&N, plugs\wires at 60K, had heard story about the plugs fusing to the heads dissimilar metals and all that, 3 hours later done, got a real knock one day cleared up as soon as the Cobra worked it's way thru the motor, damn Fords .
4L60E has me watching it close, I don't like the soft shifts but every now and then it will lite them up going into second, if I turn ASR off it stiffens up the shift a little, I use Royal Purple and change it on the light, sounds like the bottom ends are strong only one person replied saying the had lost a rod. Good luck.

From everything I've read the LS1 motor should be good for at least 250,000 miles IF taken care of .

I bought my car with 146xxx and all I have had to do is brakes and change the oil. I have been very happy with my car I do not think that it has lost very much power with all of the miles because I recently ran a 13.6 at the track. Depending on what kind of maintenance was done I would not be worried at all about buying a high mileage ls1.

If you could buy one with higher miles that just had the tranny rebuilt and alot of larger maintenance issues handled (like mine just had ) you would be golden.

    Hey

I just wanted to ask you what your RWHP was with all the mods you mentioned here.. The reason I wanted to know is because I will be picking up my first Camaro in Sept from my brother in law.. He is selling it to me and the only reason I buying it is because I'm so tired of hearing all these mustang owners talk so much crap especially the 2003 and 2004 cobra owners about Chevy not having any cars out there to compete with their TERMINATORS.. So I'm on a mission to fix this car up and keep it street legal and show that not only will I build a Chevy that will beat them but I'm going to do it with raw power no NOS or SUPERCHARGERS or TURBOS... And hopefully I will be able to take on a few.. Maybe after I do that I will be able to have enough street credit to start a Car Club with just fast Chevys that destroy ford mustangs and cobras for fun... I have also came up with a name, not sure if its out there, but I think I like Cobra Killers... lol.. I know as you can tell I know a few guys with mustangs and a few guys with Cobras and they have the biggest head ever... Anyways, if you can tell me what RWHP you had with those mods and what you ran in the 1/4 mile that would be cool... Thanks man...

I am getting a ford 9" with aluminum case, 3.70 gears and an eaton posi put in next week.

If you're gonna mod the engine, don't really worry about it. The LS1 is an awesome motor. Even with the blown gasket, my LS1 was awesome. they are very well built vehicles. I haven't had a single problem with mine after the mods.

03 and 04 cobra's are beatable...but from a neutral stand point, those cars to me will go down as one of the best "bang for buck cars" of all times. I know of a few that are running stock injectors with a kenne bell making close to 600 RWHP. They're just easy to make fast...but anytime you can beat a forced induction car (cobra) with an all motor car (LS1), you've done something...and it make your grin a little bigger!! haha

I purchased my 98z hardtop with 87k, it now has 127k. I have replaced ds window motor, transmission mount, brake job, 2 sets of tires, water pump, and other just general maintnenance items. The car still runs flawless. My 99z vert I just purchased has 83k and is bone stock, I have not done anything to it as of yet.

Got mine at 69K and needed to fix the window motor (my next car is going to be non power windows, I swear to........) and rack and pinion steering assembly.

When I took it to dealer for window motor, they changed both cats for free, saying there was a defect on the cats and they must be warrantied til 80K even though my car was out of warranty. Woot!!!

    I agree

I'm not too much into Fords, but the 03 and 04 cobra's and a few other cars I do give credit, where its due you know.. But thats it, all the guys I know with TERMINATORS have such a big head about it that every single one has said that the only way I will beat them is by spending $10,000 or more.. I know a couple of guys that are in that 600 RWHP.. And those are the ones I will be going after.. And those are the guys that dont and wont give credit to any Chevy, not even the z06's that have come out.. So thats my motivation, I hope to prove them wrong and have fun too you know..

    I Second that motion.

Ford Cars = "when you can't beat em, add a supercharger"
Ford Diesels = "when you can't beat em, add another turbo"

    bought the car at 112K
replaced cats, O2 sensors, window motors, headlight motors, ac compressor and many many many little things that add up...and oh yeah the ENGINE! lol
the oil pump went out and the engine blew!
not many have the luck i have but i've spend atleast 5-6K on maintanance work
from MY experience, i'd just pay the extra money now for a low mileage LS1 car

did the shop pay for the tranny or was that before you bought it. how much was it to rebuild the tranny?
