How to find out your SS build number

We have had a lot of threads on this topic lately, so I am making one thread that will be a sticky about it.

Call SLP (732) 349-2109 and you will need to give them your VIN. They will get your SS build # from there.

ASC has the build #s on the WS6. I believe SLP has the build #'s on the Firehawks.

My SLP build number (2002) is 1660, would this mean it is the 1660th car built for that year?

There is no way to find a build number for a Z28, only the SS had the build numbers I believe.

You are correct Preston. The build number for any vehicle is the last 6 digits of your VIN. Nothing special. SS' had special build numbers after SLP got done with them. It is not an SS if it didn't go through SLP and ALL SS' are Z28's.

And it really makes no difference what your build # is... 1 is not better than 3001. Where the value comes in is how rare your particular vehicle is optioned.

Out of the 1117, how many were LS1 hardtops? That would be the true test to determine how rare your car is. I think you struck gold with that one!

I wonder how annoyed SLP gets with the F-body owners calling about build numbers and authenticity requests. I called em like 3 times before I bought my SS to confirm it was real. But I also found out it didn't really go to them if it didn't have any options. I Just found this out last week. They said it was built in house at GM if no options were put on it, like chrome wheels, floor mats, oils, suspensions, etc. Interesting...
