No, it isn't. My STB actually firmed up my ragtop substantially. I know it because I don't see my dashboard move independently of my console anymore.

Again, it's which Z28 you're comparing to which SS. The conversation is about my bro's base Z28, with cloth seats and no T-tops to an SLP SS convertible. The difference in 'driveability' is enormous. Bigger rims, wider tires, better shifter, different exhaust, looking down over an SS hood, etc. Some is perception, some are real differences. The bottom line is that the SS, and SLP SS, command more $$ over a Z28 on resale, with few exceptions, for a reason. Whether you personally are willing to pay more for such a vehicle doesn't sway the statistics. The reality is that more often than not, people do pay more for the SS, and even more for the SLP SS.

Sad but true. I wish people would pay just as much for my TA as they do for the for-all-intents-and-purposes-the-same Firehawk. But they don't.

I still say it's in your head and I'd rather have a Z28 than an SS or SLP SS. I nearly bought a '97 SS back in '99 and I'm glad I didn't.

You can say that all you want. Doesn't make it true :-p

We've had a lot of them in the family over the years and the SS's, as delivered from GM, have been the best all around.

But, like I said before, Pontiac delivers a much more refined product overall. I wouldn't trade my TA for any Chevy

That's another matter of opinion. I wouldn't trade my Z28 for any SuperSlow or Firechicken.

Come on. You gotta admit that the orange lighting is cool.

    No?

Okay, so they got the new Camaro right. I rented an SS from Avis a few weeks ago and still can't get it out of my head. Awesome car.

Nope on the orange lighting and not a fan of the new Camaro either, not yet anyways.

There is a big difference between a hardtop and a vert as far as handling and how it feels. That has nothing to do with a Z28 versus an SS. If you take a hardtop Z28 versus a hardtop SS, you are not going to feel any handling/driveability differences. You are comparing two totally different situations by comparing a vert to a hardtop, regardless of SS/Z28.

There was a significant difference between the '99 Z28 (the cloth interior car with no t-tops) and my dad's '99 SS (t-top car). We still can't figure it out, but my dad's SS is the most 'peppy' of all the late-model F-bodies we've owned. I say it's gears, but dad says there are no gears. I dunno. I do know that the bigger rims and tires make it more fun to drive.

Still love my triple black TA 'vert the best. Sorry. I'm biased.

I've driven a loaded 2SS with a 6-speed. My sisters father in law has one. It's okay, but didn't 'feel' as fast as my car. Could have been in my head though. Now, let's wait until that new Z28 comes out.

It's a lot heavier. It was definitely quick, but I ran down a Transformers Edition SS in my stock-ish TA. The new Camaro is bigger inside and a lot more 'refined' than the previous incarnation of the F-bodies. Tight and quiet. The blue LEDs inside, and along the door panel, are too cool. I'm waitin to see how they feel with 50k+ miles on them.

One thing's for sure - they turn heads. I could've been driving a Ferrari for gawd's sake. Crowds gathered around it everywhere I parked it.

Crowds gravitated around the 4th generation f-body when it came out too. It's a new car and will blend in over time.

Yep. In the mean time they're really unique.

I wish they'd come out with a Pontiac version of the new Camaro. Oh, that's right, there is no Pontiac anymore :-(

    Maybe a Buick then?

Pontiac's gone for a reason. It couldn't stand up to Chevy.

You're not trading Curtis, you're selling. Go home.
