Might be the 200MPH speedo though too.

I just got a F.A.S.T (fuelairsparktechnology) Flash programmer. It has an engine data option, which tells you all of your car parameters in real time. This has a MPH reading as well that comes right from your car computer. You just need someone in the passenger seat to read it for you (for safety reasons obviously)

the faster you go the less accurate the speedo is due to tire deformation at high speeds. thats why some people will swear they hit higher speeds before the stock cut off

Wind resistance will also throw off the speedo.

When I had my stock 3.42 gear ratio, I hit 135-140 ish in 5th gear, just shifting into 6th and I was at about 5,000 rpm. Then in 6th there was too much wind resistance to get it going much faster with the amount of space I had and the torqueless bottom end of 6th gear. I just installed 3.73 gears and an Eaton diff, once I get a few hundred miles on them to break in I'm going for another high speed run to see how usable 6th gear will be at high speeds. I'lll be sure to post an update.

Please explain how wind resistance affects speedo accuracy, I have never heard that story. A tailwind helps your speed, so you may be (falsely) reading a higher top speed? Which really doesn't mean your speedometor is inaccurate.

Right about that, when I do go over 100 it is short bursts of speed, then when I am down to the normal speeds the adreneline kicks in. Something about the speed and it being so illegal, a double shot of adreneline. Too bad we missed the days of no speed limit in Montanna, just a few years ago. They had a "reasonable and prudent" limit in daytime, on a few interstates, and I believe it was 65 after sunset. Anyone here from Montana want to comment on that?

I love that rush. I have hit over 140 several times. I have hit 150 I think three times and 160 once. I hit 160 bone stock hitting the governor.

I bought my SS saturday the salesmen insisted on going with me for the test drive his regret. I pegged the speedodometer which we all know it, 155 and stayed in it for about 1/4 mile. It started getting really squirley at about 130. It took the curves very nice thou, just let out of it a little then got back in it, hugged the curves better than the straight aways. Let me fix the type-o. No way am I staying at those speeds on an open road for 4 miles lmao. To many unpredictable's, besides the salesman coaxing me along he wanted to make the sale bad he was in his early 20's.

That not smart, dude. If I was the salesman, I would have kicked the shit out of you after that stunt.
