Dude the first set I had was good quality mccullough ballasts and phillips bulbs. Worked great for a few years til I sold the car, prob still working. I had those before the cheap ebay kits were even available. I've used 2 sets of the cheap ebay kits, one in my motorcycle which certainly gets a lot of vibration, and one in my car, I've had no problems whatsoever. Some people reccomend installing a separate relay so the ballasts always have constant power from the battery, it's a good idea if you're worried about longevity, but I've had NO issues whatsoever. Plus, my ebay set is cheaper than just a name brand replacement bulb, I'll take that any day.

By the way, I don't know if any has seen this mod, but there is a way to mod a 9005 (hi beam) lamp to a 9006 (low beam). If you just want more light and aren't wanting to spend money, then this is the way to go. It gives alot of light. Check it out.

Anybody do this? Seems easy, putting the high beam bulbs in the low beam socket with a simple mod.

I have done it and it makes a big difference! You can always mod the highs from your car and try it temporarily as lows and if you don't like it you can put them back in as highs, and then order some hids. This mod doesn't stop the bulb from being used as a high, it just makes it so you can use it in either position.

You installed in 5 minutes? You must be a master or they aren't true HID's. What is the K rating? I have a set of GT HID's (6500K) in my Mova & they took me 1 Hr to install....

they are true hid ballasts, lamps and wiring. 4300k. It's not that difficult to install. How about 5 minutes per side? Anyway it's really not that hard to do. And 15+ years of being an aircraft mechanic may help?

Yeah I quit working on them too. Too much responsibility and not enough pay. Everything about it is too expensive. In ten years only the rich will be able to afford to fly. It's a dying industry.
