HELP! Tree limb killed my spoiler!

A tree limb fell on the back of my SS. Blew out the back window and busted the rear spoiler. Body shop says the spoiler is junk. I called SLP, only to find out that the rear spoiler is no longer available. They sold the last few for $1000. Holly Sh**! I.m looking at aftermarket spoilers. Which is beter? Blow-molded ABS or fiberglass? Thanks for you advice.

Doesn't sound right to me...so if you have an '02 SS and someone rear ends the car trashing the spoiler you're out of luck unless you get one from ebay or a salvage yard?

ive heard that the ws6 hoods are discontinued through GM as well, not sure how much truth there is to that however.

I think the rule is 5 yrs they have to keep making parts but don't quote me on it.

There's an OEM spoiler on e-bay, $599 plus $90 ship. Aftermarkets on e-bay for $100 or so. Is the OEM worth the difference?

Well I looked the PN up for the 98-02 spoiler - 12369968 and plugged it into gmpartsdirect and doesn't come up with anything - still thinking they're available and maybe just the PN changed or something. Can't bring myself to believe they'd discontinue them so fast.

A lot of body parts are DC'd for our cars. I have the Y3F Sport Appearance Package. I lost a front R air dam, no longer avail through the dealer. Best bet is craigs list, e bay or a the bone yard.

That is an option but not the one I am talking about. The 96-97 isn't raised like the LS1 SS, but the aftermarket one is but without the bars in the middle.

You are exactly right,,,,no longer available....I just went through this myself. They have been discontinued for quite some time actually. You will have to Ebay an oem spoiler,,,,,and they have been going for about $350 on up if you can find one that is,,,,,they only pop up on ebay once in a while,,,,when someone totals a car usually.

I am with the others on this,,,,,there is a huge difference in design and quality,,,,a fake can easily be spotted. Some of the aftermarket I have seen do fit pretty well,,,,,but telling them apart from the real ones is very easy to do. Get the oem,,,it's the only way to go.
