HELP on lowering kits/exhaust!
Hey all,
So I got a dilemna. I was looking at some LTheaders the other day and they are rather large. I do want to lower my '99 SS vert. (which already has low profile tires) and I was told that these type headers will possibly give me trouble on speed bumps/driveways even without a lowering kit. Can a guy do both or should I be looking at shorties?
Also wondering about what is on my car already. Did SLP make a factory header and is the horsepower upgrade even worth the $500+ cost to buy install and match up the headers with the exhaust? Or shall I just cut out the cats, get a tune, and run it as is with the y pipe into a 3.5" coming out in SLP CME???
Thanks for the input!

yea id stay away from the slps even if your gonna ride at stock height. my passenger side collector has 1 hell of a flat spot in it from speed bumps ect.. + there way over priced

Lowered here.
I run Kooks larger headers. No problems.
The SLP headers are the ones with a problem. They hang LOW...I had them when my car wasn't dropped. I scraped them ALL the time.
Never hit my Kooks now that I am dropped. Have scraped a cutout flange near the collector, but that sits an inch lower than the header does.

I'm lowered and I run Edelbrock race headers, I do have some scrapes when but nothing real major, I can even go over speed bumps straight with no scrapes.... so i depends on what you get. I have eibach pro-kit in the rear and edelbrock adjustable coil-overs in the front with 17" Zr-1s. So it can be done....
